EXPLORING UNTOLD STORIES

For the Civil War’s 150th anniversary, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and the Pennsylvania Heritage Society partnered to create a state-wide educational exhibition and mobile museum exploring the legacy of the Civil War through the lens of how it continues to shape our society today. Charley was asked to design an awareness and engagement campaign for the exhibition across a range of out-of-home environments, including bus shelters, billboards and train stations.

PROJECT SCOPE

Advertising
Out-of-Home

Casting a spotlight on overlooked narratives of the war, especially those of Black Americans and women.

The creative encourages audiences to reflect on the long shadow cast by the Civil War by offering a fresh perspective on the everyday people and small moments in its history. Visual artifacts, including portraits, letters, maps and early photographs are woven into the campaign’s stylized text reminiscent of 19th century newspapers. Intriguing headlines grab readers’ attention and draw them into the campaign’s short vignettes.
